Advice for college interview, please

Many of you have probably gone through the college interviews, having applied early admission, and I'm elated at the news I've been hearing through facebook I've an interview for Harvard scheduled this Friday, and it's ,frankly, making me nervous. Could you share any advice/experience with me? Even the mundane things like what to bring and what to wear. Any help would be really appreciated.

Jan 19:

well, that's over with now. Thanks for the comments, and yes, Aida, I did wear clothes. ;D My interviewer was coincidentally Ukrainian, so we talked about the Russification of the country for part of the time. Now I just have to wait till March or sometime to hear the results.

I'll assume its a crappy alumni interview, which means it is extraordinarily easy and extraordinarily unimportant. Don't worry, stay relaxing. My two pieces of advice: Be yourself (this is obligatory advice, I feel like it should be automatically included) and answer the question you want to be asked rather than the question you are asked. That doesn't mean don't answer the question you are asked, answer it - then "pivot" to something that makes you look great. As always, TASP is a wonderful pivot-point.

Best of Luck.

My Harvard Interview is January 24th.

I suggest wearing clothing.

lol, but really. Wear something presentable (in other words, no ripped jeans; I guess, preferably, some nice, dressy pants, and a nice blouse?), be yourself, do what Anthony said, and just relax. You're awesome and that will totally shine through no matter what, Miss Marrrria. :)
I have no idea. I've just had one interview and it was at Swarthmore. *shrug*

Ok, I've been through this before. I agree with what has been previously stated, but here's my personal contribution :P

Wear something you're comfortable in, like jeans and a nice blouse. You don't want the atmosphere to be TOO formal.

Don't suck up to the interviwer. Not that you would, but just in case. Be as natural as possible. And confident. Can't forget that.

Ask questions! They want to know that you are interested in the university. Ask about the international communities, housing, specific programs you might be interested... etc.

You have control of the situation, whether you believe it or not. These people will go wherever you lead them. Make sure your personality shines through, as Aida said, but remember that when answering a question, you can allude to any random thing (like TASP) that might excite a topic of conversation where you reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally shine. We all have those good spots. The key is in leading the interviewer to it.

I'm sure you'll do great. Keep us updated!

Buy your interviewer a chicken sandwich.

But no, I agree with everything above me. Be sure to email your interviewer a day or two after saying thanks.

buy your interviewer a beer

..........i mean, stay relaxed. You'll do great!

And what better way to do that than to buy yourself a couple beers...

...I mean, practice the things you want to mention; it's surprisingly easy to work things that you want to say into casual conversation. Don't be too obvious though. Nothing along the lines of "well I do have a personal trait that I hate about myself, but what's more interesting is TASP or blah"
