Hey dudes and dudettes! First of all, to update you about my life, I went to the Congress of Leaders of PR last week and it was fun. Though at times boring, it was pretty nice. No senior guys, which was very, VERY sad, but alas, the ones that were there were cool.
So, because I'm just that awesome, I briefly appeared in the 4 o' clock news, online, and in the most-read newspaper here in PR. :P

---The Congress of Leaders visits El Nuevo Dia (newspaper)
AidaManduley, an outstanding student from Colegio Rosa Bell in Guaynabo, never imagined the impact that participating in one of the editions of the Congress of Leaders would have on her life.
The teenager, who's interested in studying Communications, had the opportunity to listen to Joe Ramos from Televicentro and Carlos Nido, vicepresident of sales and marketing in El Nuevo Día, talk about what it means to be a leader, on both an individual level and in the communications industry.
"What impressed me the most was the relevance of the Congress in my life", expressed an enthusiastic Manduley, after Nido's lecture ended.
Another one of the speeches that impacted her a lot was that of the representative Víctor García San Inocencio (He's the rep. of the pro-independence party in Puerto Rico in the house of representatives). "He made us question why we wanted to be leaders, what were our goals, what motivates us to serve, and where we want to go," manifested Manduley. --
ANYHOO. HALLOWEEEEEEEEN.
I went to a party at my Spanish teacher's house on Saturday and to another party at Old San Juan on Friday. The latter was called BioHazard and the concept was freggin' brilliant: a place for refugees from a biological threat/bomb/etc. They had men in suits, alarms, lights, plasma screens with medical/scientific images and whatnot, all that jazz. :D So, I dressed differently both days: zombie schoolgirl and porcelain doll. There might be a costume party this weekend at a classmate's house, so I'll make something up and wear ANOTHER costume, lol.
I was going to post pics, but the blog is being a ho'. Just go to Facebook and check 'em out there instead. :P

Yes, yes we are
Alberto's post below "Are we forgetting something" brings up a very important point. Namely, the Cornell TASP reunion.
I propose the following preliminary plan:
-The real planning should commence post-January 1, once everyone is done submitting college applications.
-Someone (or 2-3 someones) should take it upon themsel(f)(ves) to be the reunion coordinator(s), polling everyone via e-mail about locations, dates, etc.
-Said reunion coordinator(s) must compile (probably just from the contact information sheets) a list of everyone's emails, and then send out regular updates, surveys, and polls
-We'll have to grant the reunion coordinator(s) some decison-making power, although he/she/they will have to do their best to reflect the opinions of the majority of the group.
-We must acknowledge, painful though it may be, that not everyone will be able to attend a reunion. Therefore, all plans must aim for maximum turn out.
-Finally, and most importantly, we must remain committed to our reunion dream. Hasta victoria siempre, Cornell TASPs.
Also, Gary, is there some way we can create a link or something that will make all reunion-related posts immediately accesible?

Are we forgetting something??
WHO THE HELL HAS FROGGIT?
I don't want him to be forgotten!
I am not cool with that at all.
Whoever has him needs to take pictures with him and send him on his merry way ASAP!
Seriously, it seems as though our plans for a reunion have fallen by the wayside and that is not cool, it pains me, but I can accept that (Unless some of you want to try to plan that again, I'll willingly help). However, I am not fine with poor little froggit being cast aside into the harsh and unforgiving world!
Get with it people!
Please? :'(

Well, it's not the Daily Show, but it's related...
It's a clip from the Colbert Report. I mainly used because of the Hungarian part. This was before people actually started following his directions; later, he won the online poll (for the name of a Hungarian bridge,) but he was disqualified for not speaking Hungarian and for being alive. Also, there were seven million more votes for him than there were people living in Hungary.

I <3 TASPers
Whereas posting has been at an all time low
Whereas everyone is stressing out big time
Whereas everyone needs a laugh
Whereas "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter"
Whereas "Laughter is an instant vacation"
Whereas "Laughter is the shortest distance between two people"
Whereas "...laughing is the closest distance between TASPers"
Be It Resolved That: EVERY TASPER post atleast one funny picture, joke, story... basically anything amusing.

Greetings from Middle America
...where very little ever occurs. In the interest of procrastination, I have decided to share with you the most interesting thing that has happened in my town since I got back from TASP--perhaps the most interesting thing since our band director went to prison:Like most football-worshipping small towns, we have a yearly Homecoming game, where the entire town and many alumni of the high school (basically the same demographic, but some people make the bold move of transplanting themselves to the next county) come to watch the crowning of the queen and the annihilation of the football team.
This year's Homecoming queen, however, is the only girl in the history of my school to be a varsity football player (she's the person they bring in to kick the field goals. She also plays soccer).
Does this signify victory for Title IX? Not quite, because that law is still being contested by many universities, which claim that it drains the budgets for the sports that bring them revenue.
It was cute, though.
