Ethiopian news/ Puerto Rican love

Hola!

Chris was nice enough to message me on Facebook and tell me that he's been keeping in touch with Ethiopian Mike! I'd like to post the update he gave me, so that the rest of us who haven't been as responsible (shame... including myself) can rest assured that he is doing just fine. Chris told me that Mike applied early to Brown and got deferred (no one from his school got in early), but he is optimistic about his chances. He is applying to 23 schools in the US. Yes. 23. So I'm guessing we can count on meeting him at some undisclosed location come September :)It's not easy for him to keep in touch with us because he only has internet access at his school. Thanks Chris!

Anyhow, it's now been 5 months after TASP, and it still feels like yesterday... sort of. Lately there has been a huge wave of TASPian photo comments on Facebook, which makes me very happy. I think it's due to the Facebook initiation of certain elusive TASPers ;) It's great that we still have so much to laugh about and look back on. I still find out new things about our stay at TASP, even after 5 months. It's a privilege to know you all.

I'm sorry for the corniness. My next update is probably going to be about my measures for coping with senioritis. I start classes the 12th, and I definitely feel it coming. Oh MAN.

Much love!

PS- Aida had mentioned something about posting our first impressions of everyone at TASP on the blog. I think it's a fun idea. Anybody in?

Thanks for the update, Laura/Chris... 23 schools, that is unbelievable. Do you think he did all of those applications in the dead of night while blasting techno music? I'd like to believe so.

I agree with Laura's sentiments, I am so happy to have met you all, and even now, five months after we returned to our respective corners of the globe, I daily remember some moment or joke or escapade from TASP.
Isn't it strange to consider that we might never have met, that but for chance and a few good interviews we might never have known the marvelous people who have left such an indelible mark on our lives?

you start school on the 12th? what?!? if you're still on christmas break, then i'll be murderously jealous, for i've been back since monday last week.

and Sarah, I think your scenario sounds very, very likely.

Yeah, I start the 12th... bwahaha. And I finish the semester at the beginning of May, maybe late April. I don't want to go back though... I got used to doing nothing for over 3 weeks :)

Sarah, at first i didn't know what you were getting at w/ the techno and i was thinking....no? but YES. i am almost positive that something like that went down.

Let's discuss how I've been back at school for a week and don't have a nice puerto rican beach to languish on.....*sulks*.

Yeah, i think first impressions would be hilarious and refreshing and very necessary as i enter a senioritis slump. I feel like i've been neglecting taspers and that JUST CAN'T HAPPEN. ok.

I agree, Sarah. I bet "Sweet Dreams" was on repeat. :P 23 schools. Oh sweet LORD. I hope most accepted the Common App. Eeesh.

I'm so happy to hear from him! Aww. Just the other night I was talking with Grace and the topic of E.M. came up. ^_^

You all left an indelible ____-shaped hole in my heart. :) Agreed, Sarah. If the mailman had lost that letter... oh man.

The senioritis is kicking in BIG time. I'm telling myself I can't let it happen, but this semester feels so unnecessary!! I have no desire to go to school whatsoever. I mean, it's fun because of the teachers and people, but I wish I could just throw all my responsibilities to the wind and RELAX for once. *sigh* I got back on the 10th and I already have a warning and detention. LMAO. Seriously, because of my SNEAKERS. WTF!!! Half of my class got them, actually. It's a long, unfair story. This makes me hate my school even more. >_>
